Who We Are

FAMILY3 is dedicated to supporting families in times of crisis, challenge  or change. This service was launched due to an un-met need in the community. Help and support for parents who may being finding certain stages of their parenting journey challenging is limited in Ireland. FAMILY3 provide person-centred, family-informed and led tailored support packages.  the whole family comes together to problem solve and build skills and resilience, to move towards a better space. Co-parenting support is another key element

Through supported sessions to inform a child-centred parents will draw up a co-parenting plan, including custody and access arrangements. All agreements are created with the child in mind. Supports to help children cope and transition in such a challenging time are also agreed such as scheduling, using alternative communication systems such as visual scheduling are also created with the family.

The Voice of the Child for court is also assessed by Deirdre McCarthy BSW, MSoc.Sc. Deirdre is a Professionally Qualified  Social Worker, who spent 5 years working in Child Protective Services in Ireland. Deirdre fostered a teenager for a number of years and is trained in Trauma Informed Care level 9 ACE programme from University College Cork.Deirdre’s assessments are led by the children and their needs, meetings with parents and children can be held within the family home, which supports families undergoing this delicate process. Deirdre has developed an approach which allows children to have their voice heard while having a nice experience, which often incorporates playing games and having fun. Deirdre is the Author of a children’s book and workbook entitled “it’s not fair”. This book and workbook combination supports primary school aged children and their parents to navigate the emotional roller-coaster that children experience when their parents, break-up, separate or divorce.
